Rummy | A card game, played with two or more packs, in which the players try to form sets and sequences of cards. | ||||||||||
Indian Rummy | A card game played in India with little variation from original rummy. It is played with 13 cards and at least two decks, and sometimes jokers. Note - It may be considered a cross between Rummy 500 and Gin rummy. |

Sets | Three or four cards of a kind of the same rank.

Sequences | Three or more cards in a sequence, of the same suit. These are also called runs.
* Mixed runs are also allowed in all types of rummy.

Joker | Used to replace other cards to form sequences and sets. | ||||||||||
Printed Joker | Joker that comes with the pack of cards. | ||||||||||
Wild Joker | Card is selected randomly at the beginning of the game and the selected card of all the suits serve as a Wild Joker. Note - If the Printed Joker is selected randomly as the Wild Joker, then Aces of all suits act as Wild Joker. |

Pure Sequence | A pure sequence is group of three or more consecutive cards of the same suit that is formed without any joker, such as 5♥ 6♥ 7♥ 8♥. Note - No joker (printed or wild) is used to form a pure sequence. |

Impure Sequence | Any sequence formed with Joker except the ones formed with the Wild Joker of the same suit and continuity. | ||||||||||
Melding | Taking a combination of cards from hand, and placing it face up in front on the table, where it stays. | ||||||||||
Melds | The basic goal in any form of rummy is to build melds which consists of sets and sequences. | ||||||||||
Discarding | Placing a card from hand on top of the discard pile. Player get rid of one card this way at the end of each turn. |
